Registration Clearance

Q1

I have a hold on Workday that says I need to talk to my advisor. What do I do?
  • You will see an academic hold on Workday that says:
Academic Hold on Workday
“Full Registration – Advisor Registration Clearance Requirement”

“Advisor must clear this hold after conferring with student”

  • This hold is lifted once you: 1) Fill out the Registration Clearance Form for the coming semester and 2) Receive a “You have been Cleared to Register!” email from your Student Success Advisor letting you know that the hold has been removed. It is only after these two steps that you are able to register at your designated registration date and time.

Q2

How do I register for courses once I have been cleared?
  • For ISEE Students ONLY: Your Student Success Advisor works with Registration to enroll you in your courses after you 1) Fill out the Registration Clearance Form for the coming semester and 2) Receive a “You have been Cleared to Register!” email from your Student Success Advisor letting you know that they will work with Registration to enroll you in your courses.

Q3

I submitted my Registration Clearance Form but I still have a hold on my account?
  • Submitting your Registration Clearance Form will NOT remove the hold on your account. Your Student Success Advisor does that once they make sure you are on the right track with your program plan and that you do not have any outstanding tasks you need to complete such as prerequisites. Your Student Success Advisor will work with you closely if anything else is needed in order to clear you for registration.

Q4

I was cleared to register by my Student Success Advisor, but I am having issues registering during my designated Web Registration date and time?
  • Make sure you did receive the “You are Cleared to Register!” email from your Student Success Advisor. If you did not receive an email with this subject line yet, please reach out to your respective Advising Team.
      • If you are having issues registering after viewing the Registration Tutorials, please send an email to your respective Advising Team for Troubleshooting.

Q5

I want to make changes to my program plan, so when should I fill out the Registration Clearance Form?
  • You must reach out to your Student Success Advisor before you fill out the Registration Clearance Form. This way we can provide you with an updated program plan before you fill it out.

Q6

I want to make changes to my program plan but I already filled out the Registration Clearance Form, what do I do?
  • No worries! Reach out to your Student Success Advisor and let them know you want to make changes to your program plan but you already filled out the clearance form. They will work with you to provide an updated program plan and change your responses before working on clearing you.

Q7

I already reached out to my Student Success Advisor to be added to a waitlist, but I have not heard back from them yet, what do I do?
  • If you received confirmation from your Student Success Advisor letting you know you were added to a waitlist, then no further action is needed. Once a seat becomes available for you, your Student Success Advisor will email you to let you know that a seat is available for you and which section to register for. You have 48 hours once you receive the email to register otherwise you risk losing the seat.

Q8

I am unsure if I correctly enrolled in my courses, what do I do?
  • You can reach out to your respective Advising Team and ask them to confirm that you are correctly enrolled in all of your courses. They would be more than happy to give you peace of mind during Registration season!

Q9

I registered for classes but they won’t show up on my Canvas Dashboard yet, what do I do?
  • Check that you correctly enrolled in all of your courses and that they show up on your View My Courses section on Workday as enrolled and not scheduled. If you click the orange button that says “Add to Schedule” during registration, it will not actually enroll you in your course. It just shows you what it would look like if you did. Always hit the “Register” white button when you are in the process of registration.
  • If you are correctly enrolled, it could be that your instructor has yet to post the course on Canvas. They usually post the courses closer to Week 1 of the Quad. Please reach out to your instructor if you do not see your course posted the second or third day of Week 1.
  • When in doubt, always reach out to your respective Advising Team with a screenshot of what it is you are seeing if you are still unsure!

Q10

I reached out to my Student Success Advisor to be added to a waitlist and have not heard back from them yet. What do I do?
  • If you reached out to be added to a waitlist and received confirmation that you were added to a waitlist, sit tight! Your Advising Team will send you a follow up email once a seat is opened up for you. You do have 48 hours to register after receiving the email that a seat for you has been made available in order for you to ensure your spot in the course. We appreciate your patience during the waitlist notification period as it takes some work on the back end to open up more seats for our students who reach out to us before the priority registration deadline.
  • If you reached out after the priority registration deadline and we added you to a waitlist, we cannot guarantee enrollment in the course, we will try our best to see if a seat becomes available but be aware you may very likely have to take the course at a later time in your program plan.

Q11

I have not seen my course posted on my Canvas Dashboard yet and we are approaching the start of classes/classes have started. What do I do?
  • We suggest you double-check on Workday, go to Academics, and under Academic Records, click View My Courses. This way you can check if you are enrolled in the course you are anticipating for the beginning of classes. There, you will find out what quad your course will be offered as well. If you are correctly enrolled in the course you are waiting for publication on Canvas, rest assured it will show up. Your instructors are responsible for posting the courses on Canvas and they may take a while to ensure the course is up and running for your education.
  • If you do not see your course, please reach out to your Advising Team to figure out if you need to still enroll in courses or if you want a second set of eyes.
